RYA Powerboat Instructor
For those who wish to instruct RYA Powerboat Courses.
Successful completion of this course will enable you to teach powerboating up to Level 2 under the supervision of the Principal or Chief Instructor of a recognised centre.
Candidates wishing to undertake the Powerboat Instructor course should be competent to the standard of RYA Level 2 National Powerboat Certificate as a minimum and should have evidence of at least five seasons' experience of powerboating in their log book, preferably in a range of boat types and sizes. If you use powerboats as an integral part of your normal full-time occupation, then this period is reduced to one season.
You are required to hold a valid in date first aid
certificate, VHF Radio Operator's certificate and be an RYA Personal Member (upgraded to instructor member on completion of the instructor course).
If you have any worries regarding your ability to meet the above criteria, please contact us for further advice.
Prior to the Powerboat Instructor training course, candidates MUST attend a PBI Skills Assessment, details of which can be found in the Guidance Notes below.
On completion of the 3 day course successful candidates will be able to instruct the RYA Level 2 National Powerboat course and Safety Boat Course if they themselves hold this award.
Candidates should ensure they have the minimum pre-requisite experience and qualifications as outlined in the RYA Powerboat Instructors handbook (G19)
